Location Camden, London, Greater London

Category Project Management , Volunteer Management

Sectors Social Welfare

Lead an innovative Wellbeing project enabling residents to lead new health initiatives and expand their employment and progression horizons.

Job Description

Shak (South Hampstead and Kilburn Community Partnership) is a resident led charity based on the iconic Alexandra and Ainsworth estate in the Kilburn ward of Camden NW London which is an area with high rates of deprivation and poverty but big potential. Our mission is to enable young people and adults to overcome barriers to economic and social inclusion.  We engage with residents through a range of activities based at the SHELL Centre (a well-equipped community resource centre) and the ARC youth club and music studio.

Shak is now looking to appoint a Wellbeing and Employment development worker who will:

1) Launch and lead an innovative Wellbeing project recruiting, training and supporting residents as volunteer “Health Champions” who will deliver their own healthy cooking groups, deliver positive health messages and lead community discussions about ways to improve physical and mental health. Ideas arising from these conversations will be progressed into action using a co-production approach led by the project participants.

2) Support the Community Engagement Manager working on a Lottery funded project that puts residents at the heart of researching and meeting community needs around the themes of Routes to Employment, Using New Technologies, Basic Skill Gaps, Impact of Creative Activities and Local Heritage.

Both strands of work will involve supporting volunteers and helping them identify progression routes to employment and further self-development.

The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
